Galium ordoratum
Sweet Woodruff
This easy-to-grow perennial is an excellent groundcover for a shady, moist area. Small white flowers appear in the spring. Its species name, odoratum, refers to the fact that it is fragrant, giving off the scent of freshly mown hay when the foliage is crushed or cut. The plant can be cut and dried to keep the sweet smell of fresh hay indoors in the winter.
