Asclepias incarnata
Swamp Milkweed
This easy-to-grow plant is essential for monarch butterflies. The adults feed on the nectar and the females lay their eggs on the plant. The caterpillars that emerge from those eggs feed on the leaves. The flowers attract other pollinators, too. In autumn, the seed pods split open releasing silky seeds that float on the wind.
