Polystichum acrostichoides
Christmas Fern
It's Christmas all year! This native evergreen fern will add interest to a dormant winter garden. In spring, the old fronds die back as silvery "fiddleheads" emerge and unfurl. The common name may come from the fact that the fern is still green at Christmastime, or from the shape of the leaflets, which look like little stockings.
