Amsonia hubrichtii
Blue Star
You've seen this beauty in the arboretum, growing along the Perennial Border. In spring, small star-shaped light blue flowers cover the plant. But think beyond the flower, because the feathery foliage adds grace and beauty to the garden all summer. Then, in autumn, the leaves turn a glorious golden-yellow. Cut back to the ground when the stems have lost their leaves. It will be in the smaller height range in its first few years, but if it's happy where you plant it, it can grow to be over 4 feet tall and easily that wide.
